FILM CLASSROOM
Laboral Cinemateca's Film Classroom was created with the goal of providing the Asturian educational community with an approach to the art of filmmaking, making available a number of educational resources and experiences that will enable students to learn the ins and outs of the Seventh Art and reflect on key works of filmmaking –considered classics– as well as more contemporary proposals.
Thus, the Aula de Cine offers regular screenings at the Paraninfo de Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura, in Gijón / Xixón, the main headquarters of Laboral Cinemateca. These screenings, aimed at schools and linked to the celebration of a milestone or event, will be followed by a meeting with an expert or populariser versed in the theme of the work being screened, opening up an enriching space for dialogue, knowledge and reflection with students and teachers.
Moreover, the Aula de Cine offers, on an online platform, a comprehensive didactic resource that will enable teaching teams to explain in the classroom twenty basic and key concepts of film language, illustrated with fragments of outstanding films from the History of Cinema and bio-filmographies of their directors.
As cross-cutting content, users of the platform will find the possibility of constructing a periodisation of film history and an elementary classification of film genres, as well as mentions of other films and filmmakers. The tool is offered in Spanish, Asturian, English and French with the goal of extending its scope of didactic use to different subjects of the current curricula.
This online resource is available for teachers and students using this link.
